We are so proud to announce that Parap Primary School has joined Nightcliff Primary School as an Internationally recognised Green Flag accredited sustainable school. It is the highest level of achievement and is a prestigious title to hold.
We’re absolutely thrilled to have our second Territory Green Flag and accolade to environmental sustainability.
The Green Flag Award was presented to Parap Primary School on December 4th 2020, by Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AO, Administrator of the Northern Territory. In addition Her Honour presented the recently achieved 2020 Clean Green Healthy School Award to the school.
Her Honour also recognised the outstanding leadership qualities of the School Captain, Maria, as well as their Eco Warrior student leaders, Hanna and Angela. Her Honour presented Maria, Hanna and Angela with a Government House challenge coin in recognition of their inspiring leadership and to encourage them to always remain humble in their victories and recognise all members’ contributions.
A bronze accreditation was also obtained by Living Waters Lutheran School in Alice Springs – the first school within the region to achieve the Global Sustainable School program Bronze level of accreditation.
In addition – Katherine Primary School also obtained Bronze level accreditation – the first school within the Katherine region to achieve the Global Sustainable School program Bronze level of accreditation.
This means that all three Northern Territory regions (Darwin, Katherine & Alice Springs) have achieved Sustainable Eco-Schools accreditations.
We are truly grateful to Mars Wrigley for their demonstrated and valued Corporate Social Responsibility, towards the global sustainable school program delivery in Northern Territory major hubs and regional schools.
We would also like to offer congratulations to the MacDonnell Ranges desert community of Wallace Rockhole, who have been announced as the 2020 Northern Territory Tidy Town Award overall winner!
As Territorians, we all have a vital role to play in protecting, conserving and enhancing our beautiful Territory!
