 The Central Australian MacDonnell Regional Council desert community township of Santa Teresa (Ltyentye Apurte) has done Northern Territory extremely proud and is Australia’s 2019 outright WINNER as well as winner of the Litter Prevention Category, Environmental Communication and Engagement Category, Community Health, Wellbeing and Interest Category, Young legend Category plus the well-deserved ‘Highly Commended’ recipients

After coming a close second many times before, Finke was named Best Medium Community at the 2017 Territory Tidy Town awards ceremony.  This qualified the community to be judged as a national finalist in the 2018 Australian Tidy Town Awards. The small remote township and community of Finke (in MacDonnell Region of NT) is a very beautiful, clean and tidy desert town.  They are working hard towards the “Territory Tidy Towns” program. Thursday 29 June looks set to be a big day in the Santa Teresa social calendar. Yamba the Honeyant’s new roadshow featuring songs to teach children and their parents about recycling and the health benefits of a tidy town will be launched at a Family Day in the community.
