Congratulations to Adelaide River on winning the Litter Management Award for the 2018 Northern Territory Tidy Towns program with Keep Australia Beautiful Council NT!
ADELAIDE RIVER is located at the crossing of Stuart Highway over the Adelaide River some 110 km south of Darwin.
The community settlement commenced back in 1870 as a base for workers on the construction of the overhead telegraph line (and they now have Wi Fi!) The discovery of gold at Pine Creek in 1872 also had a major impact on settlement in the region.
There are an estimated 250 residents living within the township of Adelaide River and they certainly take great pride in community beautification and ensuring that it is continually litter free.
Congratulations Adelaide River!
