Working to make Santa Teresa a Territory Tidy Town

Ltyentye Apurte Catholic School is working with ‘Keep Australia Beautiful’ and MacDonnell Regional Council to make Santa Teresa a Tidy Town.

If you’re not familiar with Territory Tidy Towns, it is an initiative run by Keep Australia Beautiful Council Northern Territory to

‘promote and encourage sustainable communities and better living with improved quality of life.’

It’s all about ‘participation’ continuously improving your community.  And they certainly have been busy!

New recycling facilities have been placed around the community. A range of signs were made by the students, the school and council. To date, there have been three Community Working Bees and in total over 450 bags of rubbish have been picked up!  More are planned. They have also introduced the ‘Rubbish Rangers’ award to encourage students to keep the school more tidy.

Take a look at this video of the THIRD Community Working Bee that took place in August 2016.
