“Certainly attributes and indicators such as community and individual pride, commitment, drive, determination and self esteem have all collectively contributed to the desert community of Mt Liebig taking out the Territory Tidiest Town Award this year”.
“Again it’s this strong culture of ‘continuous improvement and community participation’ that has propelled the MacDonnell community of Mt Liebig to the front of the pack. MacDonnell Council Staff, the Traditional Owners and the residents of Mt Liebig all deserve a great big pat on the back for their fantastic achievements particularly over the last 12 months”.
The Keep Australia Beautiful Council Northern Territory CEO, Heimo Schober, also stated, ‘It is always a honour and pleasure to be able to recognise and promote the work that many dedicated Territory individuals and communities are undertaking to continuously improve social and environment development within their own communities and regions across the Territory, but community minded Mt Liebig is the stand-out community this year full of accomplishments that are keeping their community and the Territory beautiful”.
“To the people of Mt Liebig, you have all demonstrated great community pride and leadership in local sustainability practices and education, setting a wonderful example for other remote communities to follow. Congratulations to the MacDonnell Regional Council for their involvement and support role helping Mt Liebig to achieve its best and looking really fantastic”
“There is some very healthy competition among the various regional councils for the Territory Tidy Towns Awards this year and the very active MacDonnell Regional Council had again taken most of awards”.
The Territory Tidy Towns Awards program recognises and acknowledges the hard work undertaken by our remote and regional community groups, schools, individuals, businesses and Councils, and showcases innovative ideas and initiatives that improve social and environmental development plus sustainability in regional areas.
