Territory Tidy Towns 2016 promotes and encourages sustainable communities and better living with improved quality of life.
It’s all about ‘participation’ continuously improving your community, TTT program appeals to community residents better nature and ‘contributing – giving back’ to their community – Keep Australia Beautiful acknowledges and gives recognition for people’s efforts. Shires benefit from volunteer community works and volunteers benefit from ‘chicken soup for the soul’ experiences.
Communities that register receive ‘dot point plans’ (litter control, landfill management, resource recovery, etc) that encourages participants and volunteers to give, achieving ‘self worth’, pride and ‘self esteem’ in return. Litter Rating Index (LRI) and ‘Self Assessment Sheets’ are used by participants to demonstrate continuous improvement as well as provide ideas and project works opportunities.
Territory Tidy Towns (TTT) is sponsored by the PSF (Packaging Stewardship Forum), Northern Territory Government
TTT takes a whole of community approach and covers many elements of community life. When all agencies like Shire, Schools, Clinics, Councils, Businesses and other entities are working well together in a community it is often reflected in TTT success.
Emphasis is on effort and commitment. Please view the attached TTT booklet for ideas and project suggestions.
