Nhulunbuy Corporation, which is owned by Rio Tinto, acts like a local council for the township of Nhulunbuy.
Nhulunbuy is located on the Gove Peninsula at the northern tip of Arnhem Land and was created in 1960’s after Rio Tinto establishing a mining operation within the region.
Nhulunbuy has a lot to offer and is continually looking to encourage business investment and enterprise opportunities to reduce reliance on the mine, after closure of the refiner,y back in 2014.
Nhulunbuy residents have worked hard to improve their community and to make things better. It is a very beautiful coastal township with beautiful surroundings and certainly offers a fantastic unique beach lifestyle, steeped in Aboriginal culture. Add the fact that there’s fantastic fishing in their region and you have a great recipe for tourism industry potential.
Absolutely enormous collaborative community improvements projects have been achieved in Nhulunbuy, particularly over the last 12 – 24 months and we are all so proud of your combined efforts and achievements.
